I have a few pictures of my new lab space. I keep forgetting to take pictures of the building, but it's just a building. In a year we should be in a new building, and that will probably be worthy of photographs, but for now...it's just a beige brick building.
Anyway, here's my super cool little space:
Here's my bench.
Here's more benches in this half of the lab:
This is only half the lab, but most of the people are in here. Directly across the hall there's another room, slightly smaller, that has two people, the radioactive bench, and lots of supplies. I love that I can stay in my little area with my coffee and water all day without having to go into a different room. That's the good thing about not working with things that will kill me. Easily.
On some other random notes, it's been raining here every afternoon pretty much since I got here. It's cool (literally) but only if I'm at home. It's a bit annoying if I'm at work trying to get home. Today I had to walk 15 minute in pouring rain with flip flops and thunder. Granted, it was my fault for wearing flip flops during Colorado's monsoon season, it still sucked. Here's a picture of some storm clouds rolling in:
Just when I thought I lived in a normal, unexciting place, I looked out the window around 6:45am to see something I never expected to see. It's not every morning, but it's extremely frequent. If the weather is good, I can count on seeing them. There's a very small window of time to see them. They must be off and over my house before 7am.
Yes. Hot air balloons. I need to figure out what that's all about because they fill up literally just across the street from me. There were 4 or 5 filling up this morning. It's amazing and beautiful and I'd love to be up in the air in one of those.
On other notes, I'm practically a Colorado resident now. I should get my driver's license within the next few weeks, but I have my license plates on my car now! Super cool, I think. They're pretty because they 1) have mountains on them and 2) are green.
Ooohhhh yeah. :)
And, last but not least, my beautiful baby kitty cat is doing well in her new home. She acts like she misses me when I'm at work, but I know better. I just happen to come home at dinner time. Her affection is not a coincidence but I love her anyway. And she likes to lay in the sunshine in the morning.
